VIVIUS Compact Seminar: Designing Climate-Resilient Places
The challenges of climate change affect us all—especially our cities and communities. How to design places that are sustainable, climate-resilient, and livable in the long term is a key question. This was precisely the focus of the VIVIUS Compact Seminar, which was recently held successfully.
At the outset, participants were given a concise and clear overview of the current legal framework. This is especially true in urban and local planning: those who are familiar with the regulations can apply them in a targeted and effective manner.
Later in the session, Stephan Kubicka of Enregis clearly demonstrated how the “sponge city” concept works in practice. Drawing on international best-practice examples, he presented specific strategies, measures, and proven tools that can realistically be implemented in projects.
Particular emphasis was placed on the feasibility of implementation in South Tyrol. Potential partners were also identified, allowing participants to take away concrete starting points for their own projects.
The intensive seminar was aimed at planners, municipal representatives, architects, and anyone who wants to play an active role in shaping climate-friendly and sustainable communities. It provided practical knowledge and valuable insights for direct application in participants’ own work.
