A Look into the Future of Simple Construction

Register now and join us: On October 21, 2026, VIVIUS is going on tour to the “Einfach bauen” research centers in Bad Aibling. The number of participants is limited to 30.

How can climate-resilient communities be put into practice?

"Sponge City" expert Stephan Kubicka demonstrates how to put climate-resilient communities into practice—using best-practice examples, concrete measures, and tools.

One day, many stories – Simple construction for tomorrow

At the 2025 VIVIUS Annual Conference on October 17 in Brixen, the focus was on how we can build in a way that is simpler, more equitable, and more in tune with real life.

VIVIUS discovers pioneering building concepts

As part of our 2025 educational trip, we visited architect Florian Nagler in Munich, who presented his cement-free garden house made of wood, clay and natural stone. We then visited the research houses in Bad Aibling, which were built using various monolithic construction methods and as a hybrid model. The excursion provided valuable insights into pioneering construction concepts and also offered an opportunity to exchange ideas and strengthen our network.

BAU-TEC is the leading company in South Tyrol for services in the field of leak detection, insulation checks and water damage. Hannes Mussak, Managing Director of BAU-TEC, gave us fascinating insights into the most common mistakes made in building waterproofing.

Sustainable construction in alpine regions

Between Alpine panoramas and construction sites: Our event centered on sustainable construction, innovative EU regulations, and modern urban building methods—with a clear focus on South Tyrol’s current situation and future.

Life cycle assessments and circular economy in the construction industry

On May 20, 2025, VIVIUS took part in the LCA module of the Inno.Circle project at NOI Techpark. The topics covered were the circular economy, life cycle assessments and the use of software such as SimaPro, OpenLCA and EcoInvent. The practical implementation and exchange on the integration of life cycle assessments into planning processes was particularly exciting.

Impulses for sustainable building in the municipality of Eppan

On February 12, 2025, the first evening of the lecture series "Let's build for the future!" took place at the Tannerhof in Girlan. After an introduction by Prantl & Prantl, experts from energy consulting, the building authority and the climate community presented current developments and measures for a more sustainable future in Eppan.

Further training for sustainable building practice

From the end of 2023 to the beginning of 2024, VIVIUS organized various sustainability-oriented training courses for planners, owners and salespeople on the topics of - communication (Michaela Platter), - building biology (Peter Erlacher), - building physics (Tobias Mur), - building biology electrical installation (Leonhard Platter) and - heating, ventilation and sanitary technology (Georg Felderer).

Insights into innovative timber construction projects

As part of a specialist excursion organized by IDM, VIVIUS took part in the study trip "Building with wood" in North Tyrol. Three showcase projects were visited: the RAIQA building and the headquarters of Tiroler Versicherung in Innsbruck as well as the headquarters of ASI-Reisen in Natters, designed by Snøhetta.

Architecture in transition: tradition meets innovation

On October 17 and 18, the educational trip led from Vorarlberg to Zurich. Stops included Martin Rauch's Earth Tour in Schlins with insights into sustainable building with clay, the Kunsthaus Bregenz by Peter Zumthor, the "Nest" research building at ETH Zurich with innovative technologies and recycled materials and the Heidi Weber Museum by Le Corbusier. The trip impressively demonstrated how tradition and innovation interact in architecture.

For the broadcast on May 26, 2024 at 8:20 pm, VIVIUS was a guest at the RAI for the Campus Magazine for Research and Development. Christine Pfeifer and Norbert Dalsass spoke with Barbara Plagg about sustainability in the construction sector in order to inform as broad a target group as possible about sustainability issues in the construction sector.

In February 2024, Christine Pfeifer, President of VIVIUS, presented the content, goals and vision of the innovation cluster at the Klimahouse Congress. The focus was on grandchild-friendly construction, particularly the reduction of the CO2 footprint in the construction industry.

Regional cycles for refurbishments

On May 27, 2025, VIVIUS took part in the annual conference of Plattform Land in Truden, which was held under the motto "Rethinking renovation - strengthening regional cycles". The focus was on the question of how renovations in rural areas can not only promote climate protection, but also strengthen regional economic cycles and provide social impetus. In her keynote speech, Christine Pfeifer, President of VIVIUS, emphasized the importance of cooperation between planning, trade, politics and education. The conference showed that sustainable renovation is more than just a construction project - it can become a driving force for the future of rural areas.

Cradle-to-cradle is synonymous with a healthy material cycle in the construction industry. Identifying recyclable materials and avoiding the use of composite materials are key components of our development work at VIVIUS. Thanks to the many years of experience of our cluster member Holzius, which pursues this approach in the production of houses made of solid wood, we have been able to rely on valuable know-how.

South Tyrol's pioneer in intelligent system planning based on BIM is the cluster member Energytech, which led the workshop. BIM (Building Information Modeling) is considered an innovative planning tool for sustainable construction.
